Dr. Tuszynski is Full Professor of Biomedical Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Turin, Italy. Previosuly he was Professor of Physics at the University of Alberta and Fellow of the National Institute for Nanotechnology of Canada. Between 2005 and 2020 he held the position of the Allard Chair and Professor in Experimental Oncology in the Department of Oncology at the University of Alberta’s Cross Cancer Institute He held numerous visiting professorships in Germany, France, Switzerland, Belgium, China and Poland.

Research activity
Jack Tuszynski has applied diverse physical, computational and mathematical methods to resolve concrete biological problems such as the molecular model of memory (with Dr. Hameroff of the University of Arizona), the role of zinc in Alzheimer’s disease (with Dr. Tanzi of Harvard Univ.) or bioelectronics/biomechanical properties of actin filaments and microtubules (with Dr. Cantiello of Harvard Medical School).

Jack Tuszynski’s scientific activity has been always paralleled by a marked attention to technology transfer, moved by the awareness that translation to bedside of scientific discoveries is fundamental in a modern society as witnessed by over 20 patents applications and seven awarded international patents. One of his drug candidates in currently in Phase I/II clinical trials for various types of cancer.

Jack Tuszynski’s is author of over 650 Papers in Refereed Journals and author or co-author of 15 books.

His research conducted with the Vielight Neuro Alpha and Bioptron provides a deeper level of understanding of the way living cells, cellular structures, and components such as microtubules respond to NIR and hyperpolarized light photobiomodulation.
