MAROM BIKSON

Professor of Biomedical Engineering, and co-director of Neural Engineering, The City College of the City University of New York. Prof. Marom Bikson’s research group studies the effects of electricity on the human body and applies this knowledge toward the development of medical devices and electrical safety guidelines. Specific areas of research include: Medical devices including biosensors, drug delivery technology, and electrotherapy devices for neurological disorders; Medical device safety, electrical safety; Understanding the neuronal networks underlying normal brain function, including the role of endogenous electric fields ; Developing new treatments for neurological diseases including epilepsy and depression through translational research. Bikson is co-founder and CEO of Soterix Medical Inc., and founding chairman of Neuromodec. He received a BS in Biomedical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University, a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University and a Research Fellow, Neurophysiology Unit, University of Birmingham Medical School.
